Content of program
short description | The Cross-sectoral strand aims at reinforcing collaboration between different cultural and creative sectors, in order to help them address the common challenges they face and find innovative new solutions. This is achieved for instance through policy cooperation, the services provided by the Creative Europe desks, and the Creative Innovation Lab. |
program objectives | For the first time, Creative Europe offers funding to the news media sector in order to promote media literacy, pluralism and media freedom, as well as activities to help the sector adjust to the structural and technological changes it faces. In particular, in 2021, Creative Europe launched a call for proposals on journalism partnerships. The action aims to:
The support targets the wider European news media sector, including small media. Through the Creative Innovation Lab action, Creative Europe wants to encourage innovative approaches to content creation, access, distribution, and promotion across the cultural and creative sectors, as well as with other sectors. Natural persons are NOT eligible (with the exception of self-employed persons, i.e. sole traders, where the company does not have a separate legal personality from the natural person). International organizations - International organizations are eligible. The rules for eligible countries do not apply to them. Entities that do not have legal personality under their national law may exceptionally participate, provided that their representatives are able to enter into legal commitments on their behalf and offer guarantees for the protection of the EU's financial interests equivalent to those of legal persons. EU entities - EU entities (with the exception of the Joint Research Center of the European Commission) can NOT be part of the consortium. Institutions composed of members can participate as "sole beneficiaries" or "beneficiaries without legal personality". Please note that if the action is implemented by the members, they should also participate (either as beneficiaries or as affiliated bodies, otherwise their costs will NOT be eligible). Creative Europe Desks host organizations are eligible for open calls as coordinator or beneficiary if they have procedures in place to separate the project management and information provision functions and can demonstrate cost segregation (i.e. that their project grant does not cover costs covered by their other grant). This requires the following:
Beneficiaries from countries with which negotiations are ongoing (see list above) may participate in the call for proposals and sign grants if negotiations are completed before the grant is signed (with retroactive effect if provided for in the agreement). |
