The Interreg Programme Italy-Slovenia is open for standard project applications in SO 2.4 "Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account eco-system based approaches" and ISO1b "Enhance efficient public administration by promoting legal and administrative cooperation and cooperation between citizens, civil society actors and institutions, in particular, with a view to resolving legal and other obstacles in border regions".
Call objectives
The following prioritiy objectives and specific objectives have been developed within the programme and are open for submission:
- PO 2: A greener, low-carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy and resilient Europe by promoting clean and fair energy transition, green and blue investment, the circular economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation and risk prevention and management
- SO: Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account eco-system based approaches
- Interreg Specificv Objective 1: A better cooperation governance
- ISO: Enhance efficient public administration by promoting legal and administrative cooperation and cooperation between citizens, civil society actors and institutions, in particular, with a view to resolving legal and other obstacles in border regions
For both specific objectives (SO 2.4./ISO1b) pursued by this Call, small-scale investments and pilot actions are eligible. Please note that pilot actions do not contribute to any indicators for ISO1b.

Expected results
The programme proposes the following types of measures (non-exhaustive):
PO 2: A greener, low-carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy and resilient Europe by promoting clean and fair energy transition, green and blue investment, the circular economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation and risk prevention and management
- SO: Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account eco-system based approaches
- development and use of joint instruments to combat the effects of climate change and extreme events in order to improve the quality of life in the cross-border area;
- investments for the development/strengthening/modelling of joint early warning and risk monitoring systems as well as small infrastructures for risk prevention and risk management also with bio-engineering techniques;
- implementation of joint action plans and integrated risk management systems under the European Mechanism for Civil Protection;
- harmonisation and innovative solutions for monitoring systems, remote sensing, ecosystem solutions etc., including the involvement of civil society (local communities, and/or more specific target groups) by exploiting ICT technologies to share and process data and to develop a bilingual offer;
- synergies with the EUSAIR Macro-regional Strategy (specifically with pillar 3 Environmental Quality) and EUSALP (objective 3 Environment and Energy - thematic area 3), as well as with the LIFE Programme (in particular, projects under the "Climate Change Adaptation" and "Climate Governance and Information" sub-programmes within the "Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation" sub-programme) and with the European Civil Protection Mechanism in order to strengthen cooperation in disaster prevention, preparedness and response.
Interreg Specific Objective 1: A better cooperation governance
- ISO: Enhance efficient public administration by promoting legal and administrative cooperation and cooperation between citizens, civil society actors and institutions, in particular, with a view to resolving legal and other obstacles in border regions
- improving multi-level institutional governance to promote common solutions on issues related to natural disasters, hydro-geological risks, climate change mitigation and cross-border governance;
- integrated monitoring and management of inland and coastal programme areas, including forests and protected areas in relation to possible environmental/climate risks;
- administrative simplification in policy-making processes related to the call topics focusing on the needs of the population;
- exchange of experience, data and training programmes to improve the capacity of public authorities to design and implement integrated cross-border initiatives on issues related to natural disasters, hydro-geological risks, mitigation of the effects of climate change mitigation and cross-border governance;
- design of coordinated protocols and common monitoring systems with a view to complementarity and synergy with what already exists on the territory of the Programme area (e.g. signed agreements on data harmonisation, security, civil protection, etc.);
- awareness-raising actions among target groups (young people, students, citizens, institutions, etc.) and involvement of local communities on the specific themes of the call in order to strengthen the active awareness of risks due to anthropogenic and related climate changes on local ecosystems;
- joint investments for mitigation and/or adaptation to climate change and its consequences.

Project Partnership
Each project shall mandatory involve at least two project partners (one from Italy, one from Slovenia). The maximum recommended number of partners is 6.
The cooperation of all beneficiaries involved in the project is a fundamental condition for the development of the project idea and the success of the project. In this context, it is strongly recommended that all project partners base their cooperation on the following criteria:
- Joint elaboration
- Joint implementation
- Joint staff
- Joint financing

The Programme area covers 10 NUTS 3 territorial regions,
- 5 of which in Italy (Venice, Udine, Pordenone, Gorizia and Trieste) and
- 5 in Slovenia (Primorsko-notranjska, Osrednjeslovenska, Gorenjska, Obalno-kraška and Goriška).
The available funds, the project budget and the project duration vary , depending on the objective that your project is adressing:
- SO: Promoting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, taking into account eco-system based approaches
- Available funds: € 7,858,867.00
- Budget: between € 100,000.00 and € 850,000.00
- Project duration: 24 months
- ISO: Enhance efficient public administration by promoting legal and administrative cooperation and cooperation between citizens, civil society actors and institutions, in particular, with a view to resolving legal and other obstacles in border regions
- Available funds: € 2,268,567.00
- Budget: between € 100,000.00 and € 700,000.00
- Project duration: 24 months
