short description
The Joint Secretariat, on behalf of the Managing Authority, announces a competitive call for applications for funding from the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg Poland - Slovakia Program 2021-2027, Priority 1. Nature-friendly and safe border area, specific objective 1: Supporting climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and resilience, taking into account the ecosystem-based approach.
Call objectives
Funding is available for projects related to climate change adaptation and protection against natural disasters, such as
1. mitigating the negative effects of climate change in the cross-border dimension, including the impact of the nature of natural disasters,
2. improving cooperation in the field of cross-border crisis management, including the exchange of experience / joint training of rescue services / standardization of equipment of rescue services in the border area,
3. analyses, studies, strategies, action plans and pilot projects dealing with the negative effects of climate change in the cross-border dimension, in particular in the form of natural disasters.

Expected results
The programme proposes the following (non exhaustive) types of measures:
P1: Nature-friendly and safe borderland
- SO 1.1: Supporting climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention and resilience, taking into account an ecosystem approach
- The protection of biodiversity and the enhancement of environmentally valuable areas, for example:
- protection, restoration and enhancement of natural habitats, including wetlands, wetlands and breeding sites of protected animal species, especially in protected areas, including, if necessary, inter alia, nature inventory, nature monitoring, monitoring of the ecosystem for the effects of atmospheric pollution, reduction of tourism pressure, improvement of water relations, complementary planting
- protection, maintenance and improvement of the connectivity of ecological corridors, in particular between protected areas, including, inter alia, removal of physical barriers, making corridor connectivity clear (inter alia, by upgrading/constructing culverts under transport routes), development of green and blue infrastructure
- Countering the spread and emergence of invasive species, for example:
- detection and control (monitoring) of invasive species
- isolating populations of invasive species
- removal of invasive species (e.g. mowing, uprooting, use of pheromone methods, introduction of genetic modifications)
- Analyses, strategies, action plans and pilots that address the protection or creation of forms of nature conservation and the maintenance of transboundary ecological corridors, for example:
- preparing analyses, strategies and action plans, including for joint management, spatial planning, and designation of protected areas and ecological corridors
- carrying out pilot activities resulting from the strategies, analyses and action plans
- The protection of biodiversity and the enhancement of environmentally valuable areas, for example:

- in Poland - in the Śląskie Voivodship: the Bielski subregion and the Pszczyna poviat of the Tyskie subregion; in the Małopolskie Voivodeship: the subregions of Oświęcimski, Nowosądecki, Nowotarski and the Myślenice poviat from the Krakowski subregion; in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship: Krośnieński and Przemyśl subregions, Rzeszów poviat and Rzeszów poviat from the Rzeszów subregion,
- in Slovakia – subregions: Žilina Self-Government and Prešovsky Self-Government and Spišská Nowa Wieś District in Košice Self-Government.

Additional Information
The Slovakian beneficiaries receive additional national co-financing from the state budget:
- 12% of the eligible costs of each partner,
- 20% of the eligible costs of the partner that is a state administrative unit.
Slovak partners who receive public aid or de minimis aid from the ERDF for the implementation of their project activities do not receive national co-financing from the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
Applications with the required attachments can only be submitted electronically via the application WOD2021.
