short description
The second call supports initiatives under three thematic objectives, namely projects in the fields of climate change and biodiversity (priority 2), sustainable and cultural tourism (priority 3) and the removal of cross-border administrative barriers (priority 5).
Call objectives
The following priorities and specific objectives were developed as part of the program:
- P2: Climate change and biodiversity
- SO 2.1: Promote adaptation to climate change and disaster prevention and resilience, taking into account ecosystem-based approaches.
- SO 2.2: Improve the protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reduce all forms of pollution
- P3: Sustainable tourism and cultural tourism
- SO 3.1: Strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism for economic development, social inclusion and social innovation.
- P5: Removing cross-border barriers
- SO 5.1: Improve the efficiency of public administration bodies by promoting their cooperation in the legal and administrative fields and cooperation between citizens, civil society and institutions, in particular with the aim of removing legal and other obstacles in border regions

Expected results
The program proposes the following types of measures:
P2 Climate Change and Biodiversity focuses on disaster prevention, risk prevention, ecosystems, environmental protection and biodiversity:
- Disaster risk management measures
- Climate change adaptation systems
- Awareness-raising measures for adaptation to climate change
- Nature conservation and strengthening biodiversity
P3 Sustainable tourism and cultural tourism promotes sustainable tourism models:
- Smart and sustainable tourism (ecotourism)
- Seasonal adaptation of the tourism offer
- Digitalization of cultural and tourism offerings
- Promotion of cultural and creative enterprises
P5 Reducing cross-border barriers supports digital solutions developed by the public administration for citizens, sustainable mobility, combating brain drain, promoting employment, sharing health services and reducing cross-border barriers:
- Identifying cross-border barriers by consulting stakeholders operating in the territories
- Possible areas of intervention: (1) ICT and digitalization of public administration, (2) health and digitalization of healthcare, (3) mobility

Project Partnership
According to Art. 23 of Regulation (EU) No. 2021/1059, at least one partner from both Member States is required; EGTCs are an exception.
All projects funded under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Austria program must have a Lead Partner (LP) who takes overall responsibility for the proper management and implementation of the project on behalf of all other project partners and acts as a link between the project partners (PP) and the program authorities as well as within the partnership.
The cooperation of all beneficiaries involved in the project is a fundamental prerequisite for the development of the project idea and the success of the project. In this context, it is strongly recommended that all project partners base their cooperation on the following criteria:
- Joint elaboration
- Joint implementation
- Joint personnel
- Joint financing

- Carinthia: Klagenfurt-Villach, Lower Carinthia, Upper Carinthia
- Salzburg: Lungau, Pinzgau-Pongau, Salzburg and surroundings
- Tyrol: Tyrolean Unterland, Innsbruck, Tyrolean Oberland, Außerfern, East Tyrol.
The maximum project budget (ERDF amount) is determined on the basis of the number of regions of origin of the participating beneficiaries:
- 500,000 euros for 2 participating regions
- 750,000 euros for 3 participating regions
- up to 1 million euros for more than 3 participating regions. In justified exceptional cases, the amount may be exceeded and will be approved by the steering committee.

Applicants, both lead partners and partners, are advised to create their eGov account in good time to enable access to the coheMON online system (https://interreg.civis.bz.it).
The authorized signatories of Italian applicants must have either a SPID account or a citizen card in order to use the coheMON eGov service. Without a SPID account or citizen card, authorized signatories of applicants from Italy cannot complete the project application. Authorized signatories of applicants from Austria must apply for access via coheMON. Employees of applicants can apply for so-called simple access via coheMON and then be added to the institution by the authorized signatories.
The lead partner submits the project application in Italian and German together with the partnership agreement via the coheMON online system.
