Programme: ESF Sachsen

ESF Sachsen
Type of Fund Structural Fund
Description of programme
"ESF Sachsen"
The ESF operational programme (OP) for Germany’s Saxony will focus on the following priorities for investment:
  • TO 8 - Boosting jobs and mobility, for example through encouraging self-employment and business creation. Vocational training projects will also help improve the adaptability of workers and businesses such that they can better thrive in a changing environment. There will also be a focus on building better links between academic centres and industry to capitalise on the region’s R&D activities.
  • TO 9 - Special measures will be deployed to combat social exclusion and help those at risk of poverty. These will be targeted at the long-term unemployed and disadvantaged groups, such as the disabled, through local micro-projects to give them more training and work opportunities. Informal measures to promote education, skills and inclusion will be launched in deprived urban areas within Saxony.
  • TO 10 - Projects will reduce school dropout numbers, encourage equal access to all levels of education, and bring improvements to the quality of tertiary education. The relevance of learning to the labour market is a key thread in the OP. In addition, funding will support seamless transitions between different elements of the education system – i.e. from school to vocational training – to help maximise the potential of each young person. Investment will also help to train more and better qualified teachers and trainers.
