"CEF - Energy"

In the energy sector, the CEF shall support projects of common interest that pursue one or more of the following objectives:

  • increasing competitiveness by promoting the further integration of the internal energy market and the interoperability of electricity and gas networks across borders.
  • enhancing the Union's security of energy supply.
  • contributing to sustainable development and protection of the environment, inter alia by the integration of energy from renewable sources into the transmission network, and by the development of smart energy networks and carbon dioxide networks.

CEF Energy Call 2018-2
Description of call
"CEF Energy Call 2018-2"		 This Call supports energy infrastructure projects of common interest with great societal benefits and the potential to increase solidarity among Member States. Calls shall specifically focus on one or more of the following aspects:
  • Ending energy isolation
  • Increasing competitiveness by promoting the integration on the internal energy market and the interoperability of electricity and gas networks across borders
  • Enhancing the Union's security of supply
  • Integrating energy from renewable sources and developing smart energy networks
  • Eliminating energy bottlenecks
  • Completion of the internal energy market
  • Contributing to sustainable development and protection of the environment, inter alia by the integration of energy from renewable sources and by the development of smart energy networks and cross-border carbon dioxide networks

Applicant details Proposals shall be submitted by one or more Member States or, with the agreement of the Member States concerned, by international organisations, joint undertakings, or public or private undertakings or bodies established in Member States.
Type of Funding Grants
Financial details The indicative amount to be allocated on the basis of this call for proposals to projects of common interest in the field of trans-European energy infrastructure is 500 million €.
Co-financing rate: 60-80%
Submission Proposals must be submitted electronically through the TENtec eSubmission module
